On Monday, Sept 11, 2023, the County voted to accept a bid to give DCA new asphalt roads where we currently have existing hard surface. The contractor already dropped equipment in the neighborhood and starting the process.
SCOPE of THIS BID
2.5 miles of asphalt road to replace current DCA hardsurface. 1” level, 2” overlay of asphalt. Glover & Assoc is contractor. County will handle drainage. (Watch for a separate post when we get information for drainage.) In order to get the most roadway possible out of the bid, the county instructed contractor to save Ash for last to allow for the road to continue as far as possible past the turn with the remaining availability of materials included in bid.
WHY DONATE IF THE BID IS ALREADY AWARDED
1. In good faith, the County Commissioner moved forward with an understanding that we as a community are raising money for this partnership with the county. This bid award is phase 1 of DCA Neighborhood getting the roads needed to better our neighborhood for safety, value, and enjoyment. Working in partnership with the County through participation in a cost share we can get more done longterm and quicker than if we acted separately. If DCA donates what they can towards this bid, then we can continue to partner in the next phase of improvements for Dolphin.
2. If donations are robust, a portion of donations will be held back as seed money for work on Dolphin and/or to improve street signs in DCA.
Donations by check can be dropped off to any committee member for deposit. Make checks payable to: Duchess Creek Acres.
DONATION AMOUNT
The committee has suggested a donation of $250 per residence. Of course anything helps and donations of less/more are appreciated. Also, you can break your donation up into a couple of different deposits over a couple of months if that makes it easier to participate. We have approximately 60-90 days before we present the donation check to the County.
